DONOR SPOTLIGHT: MIKE GONG

Mike, a friend and colleague of Kyle’s, has helped to raise over $10,000 for the Kyle S. Wilson Scholarship foundation. Below he shares what Kyle meant to him.

“When we think about special bonds, we often think of memories that connect us with a place, a fun situation and most importantly, the people that were there. I’ve had many special bonds throughout my lifetime but one of the most significant bonds I had was to my friend, Kyle Wilson. 

Kyle was first a co-worker to me but became a close friend over many years. He had a contagious smile and a familiar laugh that you could hear around the corner of any room to know he was there. I often admired many things about Kyle throughout those years. Some of those unique traits included his patience and empathy toward others. They also included giving the benefit of the doubt and chance for others to succeed in any role they were presented.

Kyle was a humble individual who never talked about his accolades as a collegiate and professional athlete. However, I learned that his humbleness is what made me know that he was given his individual chance to succeed in sports and in life as well. 

I’m honored to continue his memory with this scholarship fund in Kyle’s name as he always strived to support those that supported him in his life. The Fresno State Baseball program was a big supporter to Kyle, and I know that the personal characteristics he represented is what will continue to be achieved for the Fresno State Baseball program and any individual who will be supported for success in their individual life with this scholarship.
